ExtraHourz Occupational Accident Insurance FAQ

ExtraHourz offers Occupational Accident Insurance to ExtraHourz independent contractors through the On-Demand Independent Contractors Association (ODICA). The Association provides educational resources, unique services and products for independent contractors operating in the gig economy.

Occupational Accident Insurance provides benefits to ExtraHourz independent contractors for covered injuries and fatalities that occur while providing on-demand services while logged onto the ExtraHourz application. Some of the benefits provided by the Occupational Accident policy include:

Accident Medical Expense up to a maximum of $500,000 (with no deductible or co-pay)
Temporary Total Disability up to a maximum of $500 a week in on-demand services replacement earnings
Accidental Death up to a maximum of $10,000
Survivor’s Benefi up to a maximum of $90,000
Accidental Dismemberment up to a maximum of $100,000

Does ExtraHourz Provide Insurance Coverage for Independent Contractors?
Beginning November 1st, 2020, all U.S. ExtraHourz independent contractors* will automatically become members of the On-Demand Independent Contractors Association (ODICA) and be covered under Occupational Accident Insurance, subject to the policy terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions.
*Please note, this coverage does not apply to On-Demand Independent Contractors performing telecommuting jobs including working from home.

What is Occupational Accident Insurance?
Occupational Accident provides ExtraHourz independent contractors protection for covered injuries that happen while they are logged into the ExtraHourz app and performing on-demand services. Occupational Accident Insurance provides benefits for medical expenses, temporary disability, loss of life, survivor benefits, dismemberment and paralysis for covered injuries directly caused by an occupational accident.

Why Should an Independent Contractor Have Occupational Accident Insurance?
Should an ExtraHourz independent contractor sustain a covered occupational accident injury, Occupational Accident Insurance coverage can help cover unexpected medical costs that would otherwise need to be paid out-of-pocket.

How Much Does Occupational Accident Insurance Cost?
There is no cost to ExtraHourz independent contractors. In addition, there are no deductibles or co-pays.

How Do I Report an Occupational Accident Claim?
To report a claim, the ExtraHourz independent contractor will need to call the OneBeacon claims call center at 1-877-441-6274. The call center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please be prepared to provide policy #216-002-578, along with your phone number and email address. A OneBeacon claims adjuster will be assigned to your claim and will guide you through the claims process. The claims adjuster may request additional information and it is important that you provide that information as soon as possible to avoid any delays in the handling of your claim.
If your injuries require immediate medical attention, please go directly to the nearest hospital/urgent care center for medical treatment or call 911.
